I had been seeing Orca mentioned more and more lately, so I tried it myself. It was pretty good? Here is a quick review.
I had been quite happy with Superset. Without much setup, it made it intuitive to split worktrees by repository and task and run several jobs at once. What I missed was the ability to read and edit the actual code directly. I managed agents and worktrees in Superset, then opened Cursor whenever I needed to inspect or change the code myself.
What I like most about Orca is that it brings both roles into one place. It provides Superset's intuitive worktree management together with a code editor and diff view. Not being able to pull in VS Code extensions is a drawback, but I can inspect the real diff and make edits right where I launched the agent, so I have fewer reasons to open a separate editor. It also supports comments on files, which makes a workflow of reading through a file, leaving comments, and handing the edits to AI surprisingly useful.
At first the UI felt aggressively AI-generated and put me off. Maybe I have simply become used to it, because opening Superset again now feels much stranger. Orca also supports plenty of useful features. I can see LLM usage directly in the status bar, and inspect or control open ports for each worktree there too. As a frontend developer, I also appreciate being able to open a browser inside the app, comment directly on an element I want changed, and hand off the edit. None of these features is unprecedented, but Orca is an agent-orchestration tool that puts the features I want in one place, so I have settled on it for now.
Oh, and of course it supports automation. You can run prompts on a schedule or execute a specific task whenever a worktree is created.
Superset showed the PR number immediately, which was convenient. In Orca I had to hover once before the number appeared, and that was inconvenient. Very inconvenient. It was a small change, so I opened an issue and submitted a fix myself. The PR has not been merged yet, but the maintainer linked it from the issue, so perhaps it will land soon...? I am waiting eagerly.
